UChicago enrolled 71 Black first year students in 2025–26, down from 97 the previous year and more than 150 three years earlier, while male students surpassed 58% of the class—the highest share in decades. The figures follow the Supreme Court’s 2023 affirmative action ruling and highlight shifting campus demographics, including a rise in students who did not report race.
