Chicago, IL – Northern Illinois will enjoy several days of seasonable early fall weather before a wetter pattern develops, with widespread rain chances expected to return by the middle of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, Saturday will feature highs ranging from about 65 to 73 degrees across the region. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall into the 45 to 55 degree range.
A few showers or sprinkles could develop overnight into Sunday morning near and west of Interstate 39. Otherwise, Sunday will remain relatively quiet, with highs from 67 to 74 degrees and lows between 46 and 56.
Monday is expected to stay dry with sunshine and highs reaching 69 to 76 degrees.
The weather begins changing Tuesday. The National Weather Service shows a 20% to 30% chance of afternoon rain west of Interstate 55, with rain chances increasing to between 30% and 70% Tuesday night. The greatest chances are expected west of I 55.
By Wednesday, rain becomes more widespread across the Chicago region and northern Illinois. Forecast rain chances reach 50% to 60%, while temperatures remain seasonable with highs between 67 and 75 degrees.
Tuesday could be the warmest day of the forecast period, with afternoon temperatures ranging from 70 to 77 degrees. Overnight lows will also climb into the upper 50s and lower 60s as moisture increases.
Drivers and commuters should monitor forecasts heading into Tuesday night and Wednesday, when wet roads could become a more widespread concern across the region.
