Chicago, Illinois – Scattered showers will fade tonight as Chicago enters astronomical fall, with highs largely in the 60s through the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, widely scattered showers will gradually diminish in coverage tonight as upper level low pressure moves southeast. Temperatures will fall to between 51 and 59 degrees.
Astronomical fall begins at 7:05 p.m. CDT Tuesday with the fall equinox. The change of seasons comes with a stretch of cool conditions expected to continue through the weekend.
Wednesday will bring highs of 62 to 68 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Overnight temperatures will range from 48 to 58 degrees. Thursday warms slightly, with highs between 64 and 71 and lows of 49 to 58.
Friday stays cool with highs from 63 to 70 degrees before temperatures drop to between 46 and 56 overnight. Saturday will bring highs of 62 to 69 and lows ranging from 47 to 57.
Conditions near Chicago and along the Lake Michigan shoreline will remain milder at night than some inland locations, according to the NWS outlook.
A high swim risk is in place at Lake Michigan beaches tonight. Beachgoers should account for hazardous swimming conditions and follow posted warnings before entering the water.
By Sunday, highs will range from 66 to 72 degrees, with nighttime temperatures between 50 and 59. The overall pattern remains cool through the weekend after tonight's scattered showers diminish.
