Chicago, IL – Showers will end later tonight across the Chicago area, giving way to a seasonably cool and mostly dry stretch from Friday through early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, locally heavy rainfall remains a threat tonight before showers move out. Overnight lows are forecast to range from 48 to 59 degrees.
Friday should turn partly sunny and cooler, with highs of 64 to 68 degrees across most of the area. Temperatures near Lake Michigan are expected to remain in the lower 60s. Friday night will be considerably cooler, with lows ranging from 41 to 47 degrees, though Chicago itself should remain in the lower 50s.
Saturday is forecast to bring sunshine and highs from 65 to 70 degrees. Overnight temperatures will again fall into the 40s, with lows of 43 to 48 degrees outside the warmer urban core.
A few more clouds could return Sunday, but dry conditions are expected to continue. Highs should reach 69 to 73 degrees in most locations, with readings in the mid 60s along the Indiana shoreline.
Monday remains sunny and seasonably cool. Highs are forecast at 64 to 68 degrees, while areas along the lakeshore could stay near 60.
The NWS outlook, issued Thursday afternoon, shows a notable shift from Thursday night's showers to several days of quieter weather. No frost or freeze conditions are indicated in the outlook, although nighttime readings outside Chicago will drop into the lower and middle 40s in some locations.
Residents should expect locally heavy rain to remain the main weather concern through tonight, followed by drier, cooler conditions Friday and through the weekend.
