Chicago, Illinois – A high swim risk affects Lake Michigan beaches Wednesday as dry, seasonably cool weather settles across the Chicago area.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, dry conditions and seasonably cool temperatures will continue through the weekend. Wednesday will be cloudy, with highs ranging from 64 to 68 degrees.
The most immediate concern is along Lake Michigan, where the Weather Service indicates a high swim risk Wednesday. Beachgoers should account for hazardous swimming conditions and follow posted beach guidance before entering the water.
Away from the lake, weather related travel problems should be limited. No rain is shown in the five day outlook, with a mixture of clouds and sunshine expected from Thursday through Sunday.
Thursday brings highs from 65 to 71 degrees, making it the warmest day shown in the outlook. Friday reaches 65 to 70, followed by 64 to 69 Saturday and 65 to 70 Sunday.
Nights will remain cool across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana. Lows range from 50 to 58 degrees Wednesday and Thursday nights before dipping to between 48 and 56 Friday night.
The Weather Service notes that conditions will be mildest in and near Chicago and along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Sunday night lows range from 51 to 59 degrees.
The dry pattern lasts through the weekend, keeping rain out of the five day outlook. Wednesday's high swim risk along Lake Michigan remains the primary weather related hazard before partly cloudy and seasonably cool conditions dominate the rest of the week.
