Chicago, IL – Unseasonably warm weather will continue across the Chicago area through early next week, with temperatures reaching the lower to middle 80s in some locations Saturday and Monday, while scattered rain chances return following an extended dry stretch.
The National Weather Service in Chicago said Thursday morning that temperatures will remain above seasonal norms into early next week, although much of the five day period is expected to stay dry.
Thursday, Oct. 8, will bring highs ranging from 69 to 76 degrees, followed by overnight lows between 48 and 54 degrees.
Friday will be warmer, with highs reaching 70 to 80 degrees. Scattered showers are possible during the morning and afternoon, although widespread rainfall is not indicated in the outlook. Overnight temperatures will remain mild, ranging from 58 to 62 degrees.
Saturday, Oct. 10, is expected to be among the warmest days of the period, with highs between 79 and 84 degrees. Sunshine is expected during the morning, followed by some afternoon clouds.
A brief cooldown arrives Sunday, with highs ranging from 68 to 76 degrees. The weather service indicates a 30% chance of showers southeast of Interstate 55, while other locations may remain dry.
Temperatures rebound Monday, Oct. 12, with highs between 77 and 84 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Rain chances increase to 40% Monday night, when lows are expected to fall between 52 and 57 degrees.
Despite the return of occasional shower chances, the weather service emphasized that dry conditions will dominate much of the period.
Residents across the Chicago area and surrounding northern Illinois communities can expect continued unusually warm afternoons, with the next opportunities for rainfall arriving Friday, Sunday in areas southeast of I 55, and Monday night.
