Chicago, IL – Two men have been arrested and charged after a 17 year old CTA Blue Line passenger was allegedly threatened with a shooting and robbed of his shoes, Chicago police announced Thursday.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the robbery occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. Aug. 30 while the teenager was aboard a train in the 400 block of South Halsted Street. Police said two alleged offenders approached the teen, threatened to shoot him and took his shoes.
The victim exited the train and reported the robbery to police.
Detectives with the Citywide Robbery Task Force worked with the Public Transportation Section& 39;s Strategic Decision Support Center to track the alleged offenders using CTA surveillance video, police said.
Investigators said video captured one alleged offender, who had been wearing a black mask and black clothing during the robbery, later removing his mask. Police said he was also seen wearing the victim& 39;s allegedly stolen shoes.
Detectives subsequently released images in a community alert seeking help identifying the individuals. Police said tips from the public helped investigators identify the alleged offenders as Zaden Miller, 18, and Denzel Williams, 20.
Williams was arrested Sept. 5 by 11th District officers, while Miller was arrested Sept. 8 by the Public Transportation Tactical Team, according to police.
Both men were charged with one felony count of aggravated robbery indicating armed with a firearm. Williams was also charged with issuance of a warrant, police said.
The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
