Chicago, IL – A stretch of unusually warm and dry fall weather will continue across Chicago and surrounding northern Illinois communities through Sunday, Oct. 25, with afternoon temperatures potentially reaching the upper 70s despite the late October calendar.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, its Wednesday afternoon forecast calls for several days of sunshine and partly cloudy skies, with little precipitation expected through the upcoming weekend.
Wednesday night will bring cooler conditions, with overnight lows ranging from 43 to 50 degrees across the region. Temperatures in Chicago itself are expected to remain closer to the lower 50s.
Thursday, Oct. 22, will feature mostly sunny skies, although patchy morning fog could develop in some locations. Afternoon highs are forecast between 66 and 76 degrees, with cooler temperatures in the 60s near Lake Michigan.
Friday, Oct. 23, will continue the pleasant weather pattern, with highs between 67 and 75 degrees. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall between 44 and 51 degrees.
By Saturday, Oct. 24, afternoon temperatures should reach 68 to 74 degrees, followed by another mild day Sunday, Oct. 25, when highs could climb between 70 and 77 degrees.
Communities farther inland may experience the warmest afternoon conditions, while neighborhoods along Lake Michigan could remain noticeably cooler.
For drivers, the generally dry forecast suggests favorable travel conditions through the weekend, although Thursday morning fog could temporarily reduce visibility in isolated areas.
Residents planning outdoor activities, fall festivals or weekend gatherings should find several opportunities to enjoy the mild weather before colder seasonal conditions eventually return.
