Chicago, IL – Overnight temperatures will trend cooler through early next week, with inland parts of the Chicago area forecast to fall into the upper 30s Monday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, showers will end later Thursday night before seasonably cool and mainly dry weather settles across the region for the weekend and into early next week.
Friday will bring highs of 60 to 68 degrees, followed by nighttime lows ranging from 40 to 52. Saturday temperatures are forecast to reach 60 to 70 before falling to 45 to 51 overnight.
A modest warmup is expected Sunday, when afternoon temperatures reach 65 to 73 degrees. Lows Sunday night are forecast between 40 and 51.
The coolest overnight temperatures in the five day outlook arrive Monday night. After highs of 60 to 68 Monday afternoon, temperatures are forecast to fall to between 39 and 48 degrees overnight.
The NWS noted that locations near Lake Michigan and in Chicago will remain warmer, meaning the lowest readings are more likely farther inland. The forecast does not indicate a widespread freeze, with even the coolest values remaining above 32 degrees.
The cooler stretch follows Thursday's showers, which could include locally heavy rainfall before conditions dry out later Thursday night.
Residents can expect cool, dry fall weather through the weekend, followed by the possibility of the area's first upper 30s temperatures of this outlook by Monday night.
