According to the National Weather Service for Chicago , isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are possible tonight between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday. The primary hazards associated with these storms include frequent lightning strikes and heavy downpours capable of reducing visibility and slowing traffic on area roadways. Beyond the rain threat, south of I 80, heat indices are expected to reach or exceed 100 degrees again on Saturday afternoon. Authorities advise residents to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and shift strenuous outdoor activities to cooler parts of the day to avoid heat related illness.
Travelers heading to the lakefront should exercise caution, as hazardous conditions are present on Lake Michigan.
