Bourbonnais, IL – The holiday season is officially lighting up in Bourbonnais as registration opens Wednesday, Nov. 4, for the village's seventh annual Holiday Homes & Holly Jolly Lighting Contest, giving residents an opportunity to showcase their Christmas decorations and compete for prizes.
According to the Village of Bourbonnais, participation is free, with registration available through Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 4:30 p.m.
Residents can showcase their decorated homes through the Holiday Homes Tour or participate in the Holly Jolly Lighting Contest, which features Traditional and People's Choice categories.
Holiday Displays and Community Voting Return
Participating homes must have their holiday lights and decorations displayed by Wednesday, Dec. 2, when official photographs will be taken.
The village plans to release an online map Friday, Dec. 4, allowing residents throughout the Bourbonnais and greater Kankakee area to explore participating holiday displays.
The Holiday Homes Tour runs Dec. 4 25, while traditional judging takes place Dec. 4 8.
People's Choice voting will be conducted through social media from Dec. 4 13.
First , second and third place prizes will be awarded in both contest categories.
How Bourbonnais Residents Can Register
The contest is open to eligible Village of Bourbonnais residents and employees, with residential entries required to be within village corporate limits.
Only one entry per residence is permitted, and professional lighting installation is prohibited for contest participants.
Registration is available online or through the Village Administration Building at 600 Main St. NW in Bourbonnais.
Submitting an application does not automatically guarantee participation, as addresses must first be verified.
Residents interested in joining the holiday festivities must submit their registration by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 1 .
