Rock Island, IL – The Rock Island County Sheriff ’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate who was discovered unresponsive at the Rock Island County Jail on September 3, 2026.
According to the Rock Island County Sheriff ’s Office, the 60 year old individual was found in an unresponsive state within the facility. Officials have requested the Rock Island County Integrity Task Force lead an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The Rock Island County Integrity Task Force has assumed control of the inquiry to ensure an impartial review of the incident. Further details regarding the identity of the inmate or the cause of death have not been released at this time.
