Hoffman Estates, IL – Residents are being urged to exercise caution following the discovery of a bat that tested positive for rabies in the 1000 block of Worthington Drive. As of September 2, 2024, local officials are emphasizing the importance of public safety measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
According to Cook County Animal and Rabies Control, members of the public should avoid handling any wild animals. The agency recommends that all pet owners ensure their animals are currently vaccinated against rabies to provide a barrier of protection for the community.
