Cook County, Illinois – A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the region until 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Residents across the area should prepare for potentially hazardous weather conditions moving through the county this evening.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm system is packing wind gusts of up to 60 mph. In addition to the strong winds, meteorologists are tracking the possibility of quarter size hail throughout the impacted duration.
Officials strongly urge all residents to seek shelter indoors until the storm passes and the warning expires. Remaining off the roads and staying away from windows is recommended to avoid risks associated with the high speed winds and falling debris.
