PEACHTREE CITY, GA – Lingering tropical weather threatens parts of northern and central Georgia early Sunday, Oct. 11, with flooding and isolated tornadoes among the concerns. Although skies should improve around metro Atlanta, dangerous conditions could persist in affected communities.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued Saturday evening warns that impacts from Post Tropical Cyclone Isaias will continue into early Sunday.
The outlook identifies gusty winds, heavy rainfall capable of producing flash and river flooding, and a few tornadoes as potential hazards.
The advisory covers numerous counties across northern and central Georgia, including Fayette, Fulton, Coweta, Clayton and surrounding communities.
Residents should avoid flooded roadways, monitor local emergency information and remain alert for rapidly changing conditions. Never attempt to drive through water covering a road.
Despite the regional outlook, the specific forecast for Peachtree City indicates improving conditions.
Sunday brings mostly cloudy skies and a high near 73 degrees. Southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph could gust to 25 mph.
Sunday night turns mostly clear, with temperatures falling to approximately 60 degrees.
By Monday, Oct. 12, sunshine returns for Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day. Temperatures climb to 84 degrees, with northwest winds gusting to 20 mph.
Tuesday, Oct. 13, brings sunny skies and a high near 87 degrees, offering favorable conditions for school travel, commuting and outdoor activities.
Wednesday continues the warming trend, with sunshine and temperatures reaching 89 degrees.
Five Day Outlook: Thursday remains sunny with a high near 88 degrees. Friday brings sunshine and temperatures around 84. Saturday cools to approximately 75 degrees under sunny skies.
The National Weather Service indicates no additional hazardous weather conditions are expected Monday through Friday.
Residents should continue monitoring official updates until the lingering tropical threat ends.
