Macon, GA – A 61 year old woman is dead and a 65 year old man is hospitalized after deputies discovered both suffering from gunshot wounds inside a residence in Bibb County, prompting an active death investigation.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff 's Office, the incident was reported to the Macon Bibb E 911 Center shortly before noon at a home in the 2800 block of Watts Road.
Woman Pronounced Dead at Scene
Responding deputies discovered the woman and man suffering from gunshot wounds upon arriving at the residence.
Paramedics were called to the scene and provided emergency medical assistance to both individuals.
Despite those efforts, the 61 year old woman died from her injuries at the scene, authorities confirmed.
The 65 year old man was transported to a local hospital for additional treatment and was listed in stable condition.
Officials have not publicly identified either individual in the information released.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the case remains under investigation.
