Macon, GA – A 31 year old man accused of setting a Macon home on fire while four children were inside was arrested Tuesday, October 27, following a multiweek investigation into an alleged arson and aggravated assault.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff 's Office, U.S. Marshals with the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Brandon Joshua Mallory in Jonesboro, Georgia, on Tuesday afternoon.
The arrest stems from an October 4 incident at a residence in the 3900 block of Case Street in Macon.
Deputies were dispatched to the home around 4:17 a.m. after authorities received reports of a residential fire.
Investigators said a 36 year old woman who lived at the residence told deputies she had received multiple threatening text messages from a former friend.
Authorities allege Mallory subsequently set the residence on fire while the woman's four children were inside.
The children, a 14 year old girl and three boys ages 13, 12 and 9, managed to escape the burning home without injuries.
The Macon Bibb Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
Detectives with the sheriff's Criminal Investigation Division later identified Mallory as the suspect.
Following his arrest in Jonesboro, Mallory was transported back to Macon and taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
He faces one arson charge, four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of first degree cruelty to children and a charge of terroristic threats.
The sheriff's office also confirmed that Mallory was on parole at the time of his arrest.
Authorities said he is being held without bond.
The case involves allegations of threats, arson and child endangerment, although all four children escaped unharmed.
Mallory is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
