Atlanta, GA – Gusty winds, heavy rainfall and the lingering effects of post tropical Isaias could threaten parts of north and central Georgia early Sunday, Oct. 11. Forecasters warn of possible flash flooding, river flooding and isolated tornadoes before conditions improve.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, impacts from Isaias are expected to continue into early Sunday. The agency's Hazardous Weather Outlook identifies gusty winds, heavy rainfall and a few possible tornadoes across the region.
The outlook covers Atlanta and numerous surrounding communities, including portions of Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett and Clayton counties.
Heavy downpours could overwhelm drainage systems and create hazardous driving conditions, particularly along low lying roads and flood prone areas.
Residents should avoid flooded roadways and monitor official warnings as the system moves away.
However, Atlanta's local forecast suggests improving conditions Sunday.
The city faces mostly cloudy skies and highs near 72 degrees, with southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph. Gusts could reach 25 mph.
Rain chances decrease overnight, with only a 30% chance of showers before midnight and lows near 61 degrees.
Sunday night brings partly cloudy skies and temperatures around 62 degrees.
By Monday, Oct. 12, sunshine returns for Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day, with highs near 83 degrees.
Five Day Outlook
Tuesday, Oct. 13, brings sunny skies and highs near 86 degrees.
Wednesday, Oct. 14, stays sunny and warmer, reaching 87 degrees.
Thursday, Oct. 15, remains sunny, with highs near 87 degrees.
Friday, Oct. 16, brings sunshine and temperatures near 83 degrees.
Saturday, Oct. 17, stays sunny and cooler, with highs near 74 degrees.
The NWS expects no additional hazardous weather Monday through Friday, offering relief after the weekend's storm threat.
