ATLANTA — Open enrollment for 2027 health insurance begins Sunday, Nov. 1, giving Georgia residents an opportunity to compare plans, review premiums and determine whether they qualify for financial assistance.
Georgians can enroll through Georgia Access , the state's official health insurance Marketplace. Open enrollment runs from Nov. 1, 2026, through Jan. 15, 2027 . Residents who enroll by Dec. 15 can have coverage begin Jan. 1, while people enrolling from Dec. 16 through Jan. 15 generally receive coverage beginning Feb. 1.
Georgia Access replaced HealthCare.gov as Georgia's state based health insurance exchange beginning with the 2025 coverage year, meaning consumers now shop, compare and enroll through the state's Marketplace system.
What Georgia residents should check Atlanta area residents and consumers statewide should compare monthly health insurance premiums, deductibles, co pays, out of pocket limits, prescription drug coverage and whether preferred doctors and hospitals remain in network.
Consumers should also update their expected 2027 household income and family information because those details can affect eligibility for premium tax credits, cost sharing reductions and other financial assistance .
Georgia Access says eligibility for financial assistance is calculated during the application process, and some residents may qualify for low cost or even no cost health insurance coverage.

The effect is projected to be substantially larger in some rural, higher cost areas, where average premium savings are estimated at approximately 23.3% compared with a market without the program.
More than 90% of Georgians enrolled in the individual insurance market for 2026 were eligible for premium tax credits , according to the state's waiver analysis, making household income and subsidy eligibility major factors in what many consumers ultimately pay.
