ATLANTA, GA – Residents across north and central Georgia can expect another stretch of dry, pleasant fall weather this week, but a cold front arriving ahead of the weekend will bring a noticeable drop in afternoon temperatures, especially around metro Atlanta.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, temperatures will remain near seasonal averages through Tuesday, October 27, with no rainfall expected during the seven day forecast period.
A gradual warming trend will continue through Thursday, October 22, before a dry cold front moves through the region and brings cooler conditions Friday into the weekend.
In Atlanta, afternoon temperatures are expected to reach 74 degrees Wednesday and 76 degrees Thursday before falling to 72 degrees Friday and 67 degrees Saturday, October 24.
Sunday's high is forecast near 69 degrees, with overnight temperatures dipping to approximately 46 degrees by Sunday morning.
Athens will experience a similar cooldown, with highs dropping from 77 degrees Thursday to 67 degrees Saturday. Sunday morning temperatures could reach 44 degrees.
Farther northwest, Rome is forecast to reach 76 degrees Thursday before cooling to 70 degrees Saturday. Overnight lows could fall to 42 degrees Sunday morning, among the colder readings shown in the regional forecast.
Central Georgia will remain somewhat warmer.
Columbus and Macon are both forecast to reach 80 degrees Thursday before afternoon highs settle into the lower 70s over the weekend.
Despite the approaching front, forecasters are not expecting widespread rain or significant storm activity.
The extended dry pattern should provide favorable conditions for outdoor events, weekend travel and fall activities across much of the region.
Temperatures are expected to gradually recover early next week, with Atlanta reaching approximately 73 degrees Monday and 75 degrees Tuesday, October 27.
Residents planning early morning activities should prepare for cooler temperatures, particularly Sunday, when several communities could experience lows in the lower to middle 40s.
