Venice, FL – Salvatore Giunta, born July 6, 1968, was sentenced to 92.75 years in prison on Friday, September 4, 2026, following his conviction on 83 counts related to the possession of child sexual abuse material CSAM . The sentencing concludes a lengthy investigation led by the Sarasota County Sheriff ’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children ICAC Unit.
The investigation into the transmission and possession of CSAM within Sarasota County began in January 2024. After identifying Giunta as the primary suspect, detectives executed a search warrant at his Venice residence in April 2024. Initially, Giunta was charged with 40 counts of possession of CSAM, but an additional 43 counts were subsequently filed as the digital forensic investigation uncovered further evidence.
In March 2026, a jury convicted Giunta on all 83 counts brought against him. Beyond the specific files associated with those charges, detectives discovered thousands of additional images and videos containing CSAM during their review of the seized devices. The Sheriff’s Office stated that this case highlights the critical importance of the ICAC Unit and the Digital Forensics Lab in holding offenders who exploit children accountable for their actions.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office extended its gratitude to the State Attorney’s Office for its dedication in prosecuting the case. Officials expressed hope that this sentence ensures Giunta will no longer have the opportunity to victimize children.
