Tallahassee, FL – Rain, including some heavy rainfall, will continue across the Florida Panhandle, Big Bend and nearby southern Georgia Monday as a cold front moves through, with conditions gradually drying from northwest to southeast.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, the cold front is expected to move through the area later Monday into Monday night before stalling over the northern Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday. Rain will occur off and on much of Monday ahead of the front.
Tallahassee has a maximum precipitation probability of 95% Monday, falling to 70% Tuesday. Apalachicola also has a 95% chance Monday before dropping to 75% Tuesday.
Other locations with a 95% maximum probability Monday include Albany, Bainbridge, Perry, Tifton and Valdosta. Panama City has an 85% chance, while Cross City and DeFuniak Springs are at 90%.
Rain should taper from northwest to southeast as the front passes. A few showers could linger Tuesday across the Florida Big Bend and southern Georgia. Cross City retains a 90% maximum precipitation probability Tuesday, while Perry has an 85% chance.
Drier conditions become more widespread Wednesday and Thursday. Tallahassee's maximum precipitation probability falls to 25% Wednesday and 15% Thursday. Several locations farther northwest drop to 5% or less during that period.
The NWS outlook indicates the break will be temporary. Rain chances are forecast to increase again heading into the weekend, reaching 80% in Tallahassee Saturday and Sunday.
Residents should expect periods of rain Monday, potentially heavy at times, followed by a northwest to southeast drying trend into Tuesday and generally drier weather Wednesday and Thursday.
