TALLAHASSEE, FL – Residents across Tallahassee, Leon County and Florida's Big Bend region can expect a noticeable warming trend beginning Tuesday, Oct. 20, with afternoon temperatures climbing toward 80 degrees by Thursday. The warmer conditions follow a cooler weekend and will bring an extended stretch of sunshine, comfortable afternoons and relatively cool overnight temperatures through Saturday, Oct. 24.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, temperatures are expected to reach approximately 75 degrees Tuesday, followed by 78 degrees Wednesday and 80 degrees Thursday. Friday and Saturday are forecast to remain warm, with afternoon highs near 79 degrees. The agency's point forecast shows sunny skies throughout the five day period, with clear conditions continuing during the available overnight forecasts.
The warming trend follows a cooler weekend across the capital region. Saturday evening temperatures at Tallahassee International Airport were near 66 degrees, with overnight lows expected to fall to approximately 53 degrees. Sunday is forecast to reach only 69 degrees, accompanied by northeast winds around 15 mph and gusts as high as 30 mph. Monday will bring slightly warmer temperatures near 73 degrees before the more noticeable warming begins Tuesday.
For residents traveling throughout Tallahassee and surrounding Leon County communities, the extended stretch of dry weather should provide generally favorable driving conditions. Motorists along Interstate 10, U.S. Highway 27 and other major routes should encounter limited weather related disruptions during the five day outlook, although normal traffic delays and changing road conditions remain possible.
The biggest change will be felt during the afternoon hours, when temperatures rise from the upper 60s Sunday into the upper 70s and near 80 degrees later in the week. Despite the warmer afternoons, overnight temperatures will remain near the lower 50s, creating a noticeable difference between morning and daytime conditions.

Wednesday, Oct. 21: Sunshine continues across Leon County, with afternoon temperatures climbing to approximately 78 degrees before clear skies accompany another overnight low near 51 degrees.
Thursday, Oct. 22: The warmest day of the forecast period arrives as sunny skies push afternoon temperatures to approximately 80 degrees, followed by clear conditions and overnight temperatures around 51 degrees.
Friday, Oct. 23: Sunny weather continues, with afternoon temperatures reaching approximately 79 degrees before clear skies return overnight and temperatures fall to around 52 degrees.
Saturday, Oct. 24: The dry, sunny pattern extends into the weekend, with afternoon temperatures reaching approximately 79 degrees, offering favorable conditions for outdoor activities and local events.
Extended Outlook: Oct. 25 26 The supplied National Weather Service forecast extends through Saturday, Oct. 24, and does not establish specific conditions for Sunday, Oct. 25, or Monday, Oct. 26. Updated forecasts will be necessary to determine whether the warmer pattern continues or another temperature change develops across North Florida.
The most notable feature of the upcoming weather pattern is the combination of consistent sunshine and a gradual temperature increase. No precipitation is included in the available Tallahassee point forecast through Saturday, and the warmer conditions should provide opportunities for yardwork, recreation and other outdoor plans.
Residents should remain mindful of the cooler mornings, particularly when leaving home early for work or school. Temperatures near 51 degrees may require a light jacket before the afternoon warmup brings considerably more comfortable conditions.
Although the forecast is favorable for inland locations, residents planning trips to Gulf Coast beaches should check separate marine and beach forecasts for wind, surf and rip current conditions. Sunny skies in Tallahassee do not necessarily indicate calm conditions along the coast.
