Pensacola, FL – The potential for tornadoes will increase across portions of the Florida Panhandle Friday afternoon, Oct. 9, before spreading northward into parts of Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina on Saturday as Hurricane Isaias approaches the central and eastern Gulf Coast.
According to NOAA's Storm Prediction Center, the developing tornado threat is associated with Isaias, with the timing and severity dependent on the hurricane's track and intensity.
Friday's severe weather outlook places portions of the Florida Panhandle, including areas near Pensacola and Tallahassee, under a Level 2 of 5 Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms.
A surrounding Level 1 of 5 Marginal Risk extends across additional portions of the central and eastern Gulf Coast, including parts of southern Alabama and southwestern Georgia.
The tornado potential is expected to increase Friday afternoon as the tropical system approaches the northern Gulf Coast.
By Saturday, Oct. 10, the severe weather threat is forecast to shift northward and eastward, affecting portions of eastern Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.
The Storm Prediction Center's Saturday outlook highlights a Slight Risk across portions of southern Georgia and the Florida Panhandle, including areas near Albany and Tallahassee.
A broader Marginal Risk extends into additional portions of Georgia and South Carolina.
