Orlando, FL – Florida’s version of fall looks likely to remain warm during Oct. 12 18, with temperatures favored to run above normal while the state also leans toward a wetter than normal week.
The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center’s 8 14 day outlook, issued Oct. 4, favors above normal temperatures across Florida during the period. Above normal precipitation is also favored.
Warm weather is typical across Florida in October, so the temperature signal should be viewed relative to the state’s already warm seasonal averages. It means temperatures averaged across the seven day period have better odds of finishing above normal, not that exceptional or record heat is expected.
From Orlando and Tampa to South Florida, warm days and mild nights could continue to dominate the broader pattern. North Florida can typically experience more noticeable autumn cooling, but the statewide outlook still favors temperatures on the warmer side of normal.
The precipitation outlook adds a rainier component to the week. Above normal precipitation is favored, although the CPC outlook cannot identify specific rainy days, rainfall amounts or individual weather systems.
It also should not be interpreted as a forecast for rain throughout Oct. 12 18. Dry and sunny periods remain possible even if precipitation ultimately finishes above normal for the week.
For Florida, frost is not part of the broader story indicated by this outlook. The primary signal is continued October warmth paired with a wetter than normal lean .
Residents should watch shorter range National Weather Service forecasts as Oct. 12 approaches for specific temperatures, rain chances and the timing of any weather systems affecting the state.
