ORLANDO, FL – Darkening skies and scattered thunderstorms could interrupt Sunday afternoon plans across Orlando on Oct. 11. Residents and visitors should prepare for passing showers, lightning and possible travel delays before several days of sunshine return.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Orlando faces a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday, mainly between noon and 5 p.m.
Temperatures should reach approximately 86 degrees, with south winds near 10 mph becoming westerly during the afternoon.
The storm window could affect outdoor attractions, sporting events and afternoon travel throughout Orlando and surrounding Orange County communities.
Anyone attending outdoor events should monitor changing skies and move indoors if thunder develops. Lightning remains a concern whenever thunderstorms occur.
Sunday evening brings improving conditions, with precipitation chances dropping to 10% before 8 p.m. Skies gradually become mostly clear as temperatures fall near 69 degrees.
Monday, Oct. 12, offers more favorable weather for Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day activities.
Sunshine dominates, with temperatures reaching approximately 86 degrees and north northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday, Oct. 13, continues the dry pattern, bringing sunny skies and a high near 87 degrees.
Morning commuters and students can expect generally favorable travel conditions, with no rainfall indicated in the local forecast.
Wednesday remains sunny, with temperatures reaching 85 degrees. Northeast winds could gust to 20 mph during the afternoon.
