Miami, FL – Rising coastal water could cover low lying roads and property in parts of Southwest Florida early Sunday, Oct. 11. Dangerous rip currents also threaten swimmers, while Miami faces another hot afternoon with heat index values reaching 103 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a Coastal Flood Statement remains in effect through Sunday morning for coastal Collier County. Forecasters warn of isolated minor flooding, particularly in vulnerable waterfront locations.
The statement also identifies a high rip current risk through Sunday evening, with dangerous currents capable of pulling swimmers into deeper water.
Residents and visitors near Naples and other Collier County coastal communities should avoid flooded roads and exercise caution around beaches.
The NWS advises motorists not to drive through floodwaters, even when water appears shallow.
The coastal flooding statement specifically covers Collier County and does not establish a comparable flooding threat for Miami Dade or Broward counties.
Meanwhile, Miami's local forecast calls for mostly sunny skies Sunday, with highs near 89 degrees.
Heat index values could reach 103 degrees, making outdoor conditions feel considerably hotter than the actual temperature.
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms develops between 4 and 5 p.m., with precipitation chances near 10%.
Sunday night brings partly cloudy skies and lows around 80 degrees.

Thursday, Oct. 15, reaches 88 degrees, with a 30% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
Friday, Oct. 16, brings highs near 87 degrees and a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
