MIAMI, FL – Residents and visitors across coastal South Florida are facing an elevated risk of flooding and dangerous ocean conditions Friday as a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for Miami Dade and Broward counties, with isolated road closures possible through Saturday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, the advisory remains active until 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, while a separate High Rip Current Risk continues through Sunday evening, Nov. 1.
The alerts cover coastal Miami Dade and Broward counties, including shoreline communities near Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale and surrounding Atlantic beaches.
Coastal Roads and Low Lying Areas at Risk
Forecasters warn that moderate coastal flooding could affect parking lots, parks and roads, particularly in vulnerable low lying locations.
Isolated road closures are possible, and residents traveling near the coast should allow extra time and avoid driving through water of unknown depth.
The National Weather Service also warns that dangerous rip currents could sweep even experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
Beachgoers are urged to swim near lifeguards and avoid entering the ocean when conditions are unsafe.
Heavy Shower Chances Increase This Weekend
Friday's Miami forecast calls for a high near 85 degrees with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Rain chances increase to 50% Friday night and Saturday, with easterly wind gusts potentially reaching 28 mph Saturday.
By Saturday night, the chance of precipitation climbs to 70%.
Sunday brings an 80% chance of showers, with breezy conditions and highs near 83 degrees.
Showers remain likely Monday, with thunderstorms also possible.
Although the Coastal Flood Advisory is scheduled to expire Saturday evening, dangerous rip current conditions are expected to continue through Sunday.
Residents across coastal South Florida should monitor updated National Weather Service alerts, avoid flooded roads and exercise caution near beaches throughout the weekend.
