Miami, FL – Coastal communities north of Miami face flooding and dangerous beach conditions Tuesday, November 3, as a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through the evening. Large breaking waves and strong rip currents could create hazardous conditions along portions of South Florida's Atlantic coastline.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, the Coastal Flood Advisory covers coastal Broward and Palm Beach counties until 7 p.m. EST Tuesday. A separate High Rip Current Risk remains in effect through Wednesday morning, November 4.
Coastal Flooding Could Affect Roads and Waterfront Areas Forecasters warn that minor to moderate coastal flooding could affect low lying lots, parks and roads, with isolated road closures possible.
The advisory also highlights large breaking waves reaching up to 6 feet in the surf zone.
Residents traveling near flood prone coastal areas should allow additional time and avoid driving through flooded roadways or around barricades.
The flooding advisory specifically covers coastal Broward and Palm Beach counties, including communities north of Miami. Miami Dade County is not included in the supplied Coastal Flood Advisory.
Dangerous Rip Currents Threaten South Florida Beaches The National Weather Service also warns of dangerous rip currents along affected beaches through Wednesday morning.
Rip currents can quickly pull swimmers away from shore into deeper water, even when conditions appear manageable from the beach.
Beachgoers are advised to swim near lifeguards and avoid entering dangerous surf.
Anyone caught in a rip current should remain calm, float and swim parallel to the shoreline when possible rather than attempting to swim directly against the current.
