Marianna, FL – Florida Panhandle residents are being urged to prepare now for possible tropical storm impacts Friday into Saturday, with heavy rainfall, flash flooding, strong winds and tornadoes among the threats highlighted by Jackson County officials.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff 's Office, Tropical Storm Isaias could bring significant weather impacts to the Florida Panhandle, with some locations potentially receiving 5 to 7 inches of rain or more.
The sheriff's office and Jackson County Emergency Management are monitoring the storm and encouraged residents to complete preparations before conditions worsen.
Officials advised people to secure outdoor objects that could become hazardous in strong winds and gather prescription medications and other necessary medical supplies. Residents should also check emergency supplies, including drinking water and nonperishable food.
People across Jackson County and surrounding Panhandle communities are also encouraged to charge phones and other devices, prepare flashlights and extra batteries and fuel their vehicles ahead of the storm.
Authorities stressed the importance of having a reliable way to receive changing weather alerts as the system approaches.
Heavy rainfall could create hazardous travel conditions, particularly where water accumulates on roads or flash flooding develops. Drivers should closely monitor conditions before traveling Friday and Saturday and avoid attempting to cross flooded roadways.
The forecast may change as the storm develops, making updated information particularly important in the hours leading up to its arrival.
Jackson County officials said they will continue monitoring forecast developments and provide additional information as it becomes available.
Residents should follow official emergency management and weather alerts for the latest information on the storm's track, timing and potential impacts.
