Miami, FL – South Florida residents face a potentially hazardous weekend beginning Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, as heavy rainfall, coastal flooding, strong winds and dangerous beach conditions threaten communities from Miami Dade through Broward and Palm Beach counties. Rainfall totals could reach 2 to 4 inches, with isolated higher amounts possible through Monday, Oct. 26.
According to the National Weather Service NWS Miami office, a prolonged period of unsettled weather is expected across South Florida, with the greatest concerns developing Saturday, Oct. 24, through Monday, Oct. 26. Forecasters warn that heavy rainfall combined with elevated tides and persistent onshore winds could worsen flooding along the Atlantic coastline.
Heavy Rainfall and Flash Flooding Possible Oct. 24–26
The NWS indicates a 40% to 60% chance of receiving 2 to 4 inches of rainfall, with isolated higher totals possible across the East Coast.
Isolated flash flooding could develop where heavy rain overwhelms drainage systems, particularly in low lying and flood prone neighborhoods.
Major Coastal Flooding Possible This Weekend
Moderate coastal flooding is a concern Thursday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Oct. 23, with conditions potentially worsening over the weekend.
From Saturday, Oct. 24, through Monday, Oct. 26, forecasters indicate a 10% to 30% chance of major coastal flooding during peak high tides.
Communities along Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale and the Palm Beach coastline should monitor changing water levels.
Wind Gusts Could Exceed 40 MPH
The NWS forecasts a 30% to 50% chance of sustained winds reaching 25 mph with gusts exceeding 40 mph during the Saturday through Monday period.
Strong onshore winds could produce minor coastal wind damage and worsen tidal flooding.
Dangerous Surf and Rip Currents Expected
Life threatening surf and dangerous rip currents are expected along Atlantic beaches this weekend.
Marine conditions will also remain hazardous, particularly across Atlantic waters.
Residents should avoid flooded roads, monitor local weather alerts and use extreme caution near beaches and waterways.
