Washington, DC – A stretch of sunny autumn weather will continue across Washington, DC, Maryland and northern Virginia through Saturday, Oct. 24, but cooler air arriving Friday will bring chilly overnight temperatures, with some locations dropping into the 30s.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, Thursday will feature abundant sunshine before a cooler air mass settles across the Mid Atlantic region Friday and continues into the weekend.
Thursday, Oct. 22: Sunshine will dominate the forecast, with temperatures generally reaching the upper 50s in mountainous areas and the middle 60s closer to the Chesapeake Bay. The broader regional forecast shows highs ranging from 64 to 70 degrees, with overnight lows between 38 and 48 degrees.
Residents in Washington, Baltimore and surrounding communities can expect favorable conditions for outdoor activities, although temperatures will fall noticeably after sunset.
Friday, Oct. 23: Cooler air moves across the region, lowering afternoon highs to between 60 and 66 degrees. Sunshine will continue, but overnight temperatures could fall between 34 and 42 degrees across the forecast area.
The coldest readings are more likely in inland valleys and traditionally cooler locations, while urban areas may remain somewhat warmer.
Saturday, Oct. 24: The cooler pattern continues, with afternoon highs again ranging from 60 to 66 degrees. Overnight lows are forecast between 36 and 44 degrees.
