According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington faces a 100% chance of precipitation Sunday, with thunderstorms possible after 5 p.m. Forecasters expect between 1 and 2 inches of rainfall, making Sunday the wettest day of the upcoming forecast period.
The heaviest downpours could affect Wilmington and surrounding New Castle County communities, including Newark and areas near Interstate 95.
Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility, standing water and slower traffic, particularly along poorly drained roads.
