Dover, DE – Delaware State Police are asking for the public's help identifying a man suspected of firing multiple gunshots at a moving vehicle outside a Dover restaurant early Saturday, October 10, following a close encounter in the parking lot.
According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded around 2:40 a.m. Saturday to the parking lot of a restaurant in the 4000 block of South Dupont Highway after receiving reports of gunfire.
Investigators determined that a male suspect was walking through the parking lot when an unidentified vehicle allegedly drove past at a high rate of speed, nearly striking him.
Police say the suspect allegedly retrieved a handgun and fired multiple shots toward the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Detectives Recover Multiple Shell Casings
No injuries or property damage were reported following the shooting.
The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation, with detectives recovering multiple spent shell casings from the parking lot.
Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect or announced an arrest in connection with the incident.
Police Release Suspect Image
Investigators released a surveillance image of the individual they are attempting to identify.
Police describe the suspect as a Black male with dreadlocks who was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt over a black T shirt and gray sweatpants.
Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the individual or witnessed the shooting to come forward.
