Alamosa, CO – Clearing skies and weakening winds will allow temperatures to fall into the 30s across the San Luis Valley early Friday, prompting a Frost Advisory.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, the Frost Advisory is in effect for the San Luis Valley from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday. Sensitive outdoor vegetation could be affected by the colder conditions.
High pressure building back into the region will help skies clear and winds weaken tonight. Those conditions will allow temperatures to drop more efficiently before sunrise Friday.
The NWS forecast graphic shows a low near 33 degrees in Alamosa and around 34 degrees near Monte Vista. Other parts of the San Luis Valley are also expected to fall into the 30s.
Residents within the advisory area should take steps to protect sensitive outdoor plants from frost, the Weather Service said.
Elsewhere across southern Colorado, temperatures will vary considerably depending on elevation and location. The forecast shows readings in the 30s across several mountain valleys, while portions of the eastern plains remain in the 40s.
Pueblo is forecast to bottom out near 46 degrees, while Colorado Springs is shown near 45. Trinidad could fall to around 43 degrees.
The Frost Advisory is specifically for the San Luis Valley and does not cover all of southern Colorado.
Residents in and around Alamosa should expect the coldest conditions during the predawn hours Friday, with the Frost Advisory scheduled to expire at 8 a.m. as temperatures begin to recover.
