Pueblo, CO – Southern Colorado will turn cooler and mostly sunny Sunday before temperatures rebound Monday, with Pueblo and parts of the eastern plains returning to the 80s.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, isolated afternoon thunderstorms will remain possible Sunday along the Continental Divide. Most lower elevation communities will stay dry under mostly sunny skies.
Sunday afternoon temperatures will vary substantially with elevation. Much of the Interstate 25 corridor and eastern plains will reach the 70s, while higher mountain locations remain considerably cooler.
A warming trend begins Monday. Pueblo is forecast to reach 82 degrees Monday before climbing to 86 Tuesday. Highs then settle near 80 Wednesday and Thursday and 79 Friday.
Colorado Springs will reach around 81 Monday and 82 Tuesday, followed by upper 70s Wednesday through Friday.
Farther east, some of the warmest readings are expected around La Junta and Lamar. La Junta is forecast to reach 85 Tuesday, while Lamar could also reach 85. Springfield is forecast near 84 Tuesday.
Mountain communities will remain cooler. Leadville is forecast to reach 64 Monday and 63 Tuesday, while Woodland Park reaches 74 Monday and 71 Tuesday.
Some additional mountain showers and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday and Wednesday, but the NWS does not indicate widespread precipitation across southern Colorado.
For Pueblo and the lower elevations, the main story this week will be the quick return of warmer weather rather than an early frost or freeze. Expect mostly sunny and cooler conditions Sunday, followed by highs climbing into the lower to middle 80s Monday and Tuesday.
