Denver, CO – Halloween celebrations across the Rocky Mountain region could face increasing rain chances as warmer than normal temperatures and a potentially wetter weather pattern develop ahead of Saturday, October 31. Families planning trick or treating, fall festivals and outdoor gatherings may need to prepare for changing conditions during the final days of October.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center, the October 27–31 outlook favors above normal temperatures across portions of the central and southern Rockies, while above normal precipitation is favored across several western mountain states.
Warmer Weather Expected Across the Rockies
Colorado, Utah and portions of Wyoming and Idaho are positioned within areas favoring above average temperatures during the five day period.
Denver, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City and Cheyenne could experience milder than usual late October conditions.
However, the temperature outlook becomes less favorable farther north, with portions of Montana closer to near normal or below normal conditions.
Rain Chances Increase Across Mountain States
The precipitation outlook indicates a wetter tendency across portions of Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and surrounding western states.
This raises the possibility of periods of unsettled weather between October 27 and October 31.
For communities along the Interstate 70 corridor in Colorado and Interstate 80 through Wyoming and Utah, changing weather could become important for travelers heading into mountain areas.
At higher elevations, precipitation could fall as snow if temperatures become sufficiently cold, even while the broader region experiences above normal temperatures.
Will Halloween Night Be Wet?
With Halloween falling on Saturday, families across Denver, Salt Lake City and surrounding communities should monitor updated forecasts closely.
Above normal precipitation over the five day period does not guarantee rainfall during Halloween evening.
However, the wetter regional signal suggests outdoor plans could face a greater risk of interruptions than in areas with a drier outlook.
For now, warmer temperatures are favored across much of the central and southern Rockies, while precipitation chances remain an important concern heading into Halloween weekend.
