Denver, CO – Denver just experienced one of its warmest Octobers in recorded history, with October 2026 ranking as the city's second warmest October since official weather records began in 1872.
According to the National Weather Service Denver/Boulder office, Denver finished October with an average temperature of 59.3 degrees Fahrenheit , placing the month just 0.6 degrees below the all time October record of 59.9 degrees set in 1950.
The unusually warm monthly average makes October 2026 a standout in Denver's more than 150 years of recorded weather history.
October Temperatures Approach Historic Record The National Weather Service confirmed the ranking Sunday, Nov. 1, in its newly released October 2026 weather summary.
Despite the exceptionally warm conditions, Denver did not break its longstanding October temperature record.
For comparison, Denver's coldest October occurred in 1969, when the average temperature was just 38.9 degrees.
That represents a remarkable 20.4 degree difference between the city's coldest October and the average recorded last month.
Denver Records No October Snowfall The monthly summary also revealed that Denver received 0.44 inches of precipitation during October, along with no measurable snowfall.
An October without measurable snow is not unprecedented, according to historical National Weather Service records.
Denver's snowiest October occurred in 1969, when 31.2 inches accumulated during the month.
That same year also holds the record for Denver's wettest October, with 4.17 inches of precipitation.
The city's driest October occurred in 1934, when only a trace of precipitation was recorded.
The latest figures highlight how dramatically October weather can vary along Colorado's Front Range.
With November now underway, residents can monitor updated forecasts and changing seasonal conditions through the National Weather Service Denver/Boulder office.
