DENVER — Open enrollment for 2027 health insurance begins Sunday, Nov. 1, giving Colorado residents an opportunity to compare plans, review premiums and determine whether they qualify for financial assistance.
Coloradans can enroll through Connect for Health Colorado , the state's official health insurance marketplace. Open enrollment runs from Nov. 1, 2026, through Jan. 15, 2027 .
Residents who enroll by Dec. 15 can have coverage begin Jan. 1. Those enrolling from Dec. 16 through Jan. 15 generally receive coverage beginning Feb. 1.
Colorado health insurance premiums rise 10% Colorado individual market health insurance premiums are increasing by an average of 10% for 2027 , according to information released by the Colorado Division of Insurance and Connect for Health Colorado.
The statewide average does not mean every consumer will see the same increase. Actual premiums can vary by insurer, plan, age, location and eligibility for financial assistance.
That makes comparison particularly important for residents in Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Boulder and communities across the state.
Most Marketplace customers may qualify for financial help Connect for Health Colorado estimates 69% of its customers are likely to qualify for financial assistance in 2027 .
Among customers receiving financial help, about 60% could find a plan costing $10 or less per month , while roughly three quarters could find coverage for $75 or less per month , according to the Marketplace.
Connect for Health Colorado is the only place where eligible residents can receive both federal Advance Premium Tax Credits and state funded Colorado Premium Assistance to reduce monthly health insurance premiums.
Residents should update their expected 2027 income and household information before choosing a plan because those details can affect the amount of financial assistance they receive.

Colorado Option plans return for 2027 All private insurers participating in Colorado's individual market are required to offer Colorado Option plans.

Colorado Option plans also include several services with $0 cost sharing , including annual physicals, preventive screenings, immunizations and certain behavioral and mental health visits.
What Colorado residents should check Denver area residents and consumers statewide should compare more than the monthly premium when choosing 2027 health insurance.
Consumers should review:
Monthly premiums Deductibles Co pays and coinsurance Maximum out of pocket costs Prescription drug coverage Doctor and hospital networks Eligibility for premium tax credits Colorado Premium Assistance A lower monthly premium can come with a higher deductible, different provider network or greater out of pocket expenses, so consumers should consider total expected health care costs before choosing coverage.
Returning customers should also review their coverage even if they are automatically renewed. Connect for Health Colorado warns that premiums, financial assistance, plan benefits and provider networks can change from one year to the next.
Enrollment deadlines matter Colorado residents who want health insurance coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2027 , should enroll by Dec. 15 .
Open enrollment continues through Jan. 15, 2027 . Consumers enrolling between Dec. 16 and Jan. 15 generally receive coverage beginning Feb. 1.
After Jan. 15, most consumers need a qualifying life event to enroll in or change Marketplace coverage through a Special Enrollment Period.
