Clifton, CO – A Mesa County man faces charges after deputies investigating a reported assault found an unconscious person inside a camper in Clifton, according to authorities.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff ’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 5:10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, to a potential assault in the 3200 block of E ½ Road in Clifton.
Deputies said they located an unconscious person inside a camper on the property. The person was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities did not disclose the victim’s condition or provide details about the injuries.
During the investigation, deputies determined the victim had allegedly been assaulted and was living with the suspect, identified by authorities as 37 year old Zachary Walker of Clifton, when the injuries occurred.
A warrant was issued for Walker on Tuesday, Sept. 29, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities said he was located the same day and taken into custody.
Walker was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility and faces allegations of third degree assault, a misdemeanor, and domestic violence. Authorities said he also had a contempt of court warrant.
The sheriff’s office said no further information about the case was available at the time of its announcement.
The charges and allegations against Walker are accusations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
