San Luis Obispo Remains Identified After Nearly Two Decades

San Luis Obispo, CA – The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff 's Office has finally provided answers in a long standing missing persons case that has haunted the region for nearly two decades. On June 1, 2026, authorities officially confirmed the identification of human remains discovered earlier that same month as Patrick Jay Valente.
According to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff 's Office, the remains belong to Valente, who had been reported missing since July 2008. The identification marks a significant development in a case that has remained open for 18 years, providing long awaited closure for those searching for answers regarding his disappearance.
