Los Angeles, CA – Halloween celebrations across the West Coast could face increasing rain chances as a wetter than normal weather pattern develops ahead of Saturday, October 31. Families preparing for trick or treating, costume parties and outdoor festivals may need to consider backup plans, particularly across California.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center, the October 27–31 outlook strongly favors above normal precipitation across much of California and portions of the western United States, while temperature expectations generally lean warmer across California.
California Faces Increasing Rain Concerns
Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento and Fresno are positioned within areas favoring above normal precipitation during the five day period.
Some portions of California fall within forecast categories indicating probabilities of 60% or greater for above average precipitation.
This represents a notable wet weather signal for the final days of October, potentially affecting outdoor Halloween activities across the state.
Warmer Temperatures, but Wetter Conditions
Despite increasing precipitation chances, much of California is expected to experience above normal temperatures.
The combination could bring milder conditions alongside periods of unsettled weather.
Farther north, Oregon also faces precipitation concerns, although the temperature outlook becomes cooler toward the Pacific Northwest.
Portland and surrounding communities may experience a different temperature pattern than Southern California.
Will Halloween Night Be Rainy?
With Halloween falling on Saturday, the wetter outlook raises concerns about possible showers during evening celebrations.
However, above normal precipitation across October 27–31 does not guarantee rainfall specifically on Halloween night.
For Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento, updated forecasts will be important for determining whether showers could interfere with trick or treating.
Residents should monitor local forecasts for rainfall timing, cloud cover and evening temperatures.
For now, California faces an elevated likelihood of wetter than normal conditions during the Halloween period, making rain an important factor in holiday planning.
