San Diego, CA — Rising ocean water, dangerous rip currents and temperatures approaching 90 degrees are creating a striking November weather contrast across Southern California.
While sunshine warms inland neighborhoods, coastal communities face flooding concerns that could disrupt beach access and low lying roads through Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains effective until noon Tuesday, November 10.
The advisory covers coastal areas of San Diego and Orange counties, including communities near the greater San Diego metropolitan area.
Coastal Flooding Threatens Roads and Beaches Forecasters expect minor to locally moderate coastal flooding, with the greatest concerns during late morning high tides.
High tides could reach approximately 7.4 to 7.6 feet Sunday and Monday, running 1.3 to 1.6 feet above astronomical predictions.
Surf heights could increase to 4 to 7 feet Monday, adding another concern for beachgoers.
Floodwater may reach parking lots, parks and roads near the shoreline.
Isolated road closures are possible, particularly in locations vulnerable to tidal flooding.
Drivers should allow additional travel time and avoid crossing flooded streets.
Dangerous rip currents also threaten swimmers, especially along west facing beaches.
Stay out of hazardous surf and avoid jetties or exposed coastal rocks.
Sunday Heat Climbs Toward 89 Degrees Meanwhile, temperatures will climb sharply across the San Diego forecast area.
Saturday's high should reach approximately 85 degrees, with northeast winds gusting to 20 mph during the afternoon.
Sunday brings the warmest conditions, with sunshine pushing temperatures toward 89 degrees.
That's a substantial contrast to the 59 degrees observed at San Diego International Airport early Saturday.
Residents planning outdoor activities should carry water and prepare for unusually warm November afternoons.
Monday and Tuesday Bring Continued Coastal Concerns Monday remains sunny, with temperatures reaching approximately 86 degrees.
However, elevated surf and coastal flooding concerns continue, particularly near high tide.
Tuesday brings another sunny afternoon near 84 degrees.
The Coastal Flood Advisory is scheduled to expire at noon Tuesday, assuming conditions improve as expected.
