San Diego, CA – San Diego County faces a combination of unusually warm November weather, elevated coastal flooding risks and dangerous ocean conditions through the beginning of the workweek.
According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until noon Tuesday, Nov. 10.
A Beach Hazards Statement also continues through 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Coastal Flooding Threatens Roads and Parking Areas The National Weather Service expects minor to locally moderate coastal flooding along portions of San Diego County's coastline.
Flooding could affect vulnerable parking lots and roads, although widespread closures are not currently indicated.
High tides are expected during the late morning each day.
Water levels could reach approximately 1.3 to 1.6 feet above astronomical tide predictions.
These elevated tides increase the possibility of water reaching normally dry shoreline areas.
Drivers should allow additional travel time near coastal roads and avoid flooded pavement.
Dangerous Surf Could Reach 7 Feet Beach conditions also require caution.
West facing beaches could experience surf between 3 and 7 feet, along with dangerous rip currents.
The National Weather Service expects surf to peak around 4 to 7 feet Monday.
Strong currents can quickly carry swimmers away from shore, even when nearby conditions appear manageable.
Officials recommend staying away from seawalls and jetties, particularly during high and rising tides.
Anyone entering the ocean should swim near a lifeguard.
November Heat Reaches 88 Degrees While coastal hazards continue, San Diego's daytime temperatures will feel more like late summer.
The local National Weather Service forecast calls for a high near 88 degrees Sunday, Nov. 8.
Monday remains hot for November, with sunshine and a high around 86 degrees.
Tuesday brings another sunny afternoon with temperatures near 85 degrees.
The combination of warm afternoons and coastal hazards could create challenging conditions for beach visitors.
Sunny skies should not be mistaken for safe ocean conditions.
Veterans Day Warmth Before Late Week Changes Wednesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, brings sunshine and a high near 86 degrees.
Temperatures begin cooling Thursday, dropping to approximately 82 degrees.
By Friday, highs could fall to around 78 degrees, a 10 degree decline from Sunday's projected high.
A slight chance of showers develops Thursday night and continues into Friday.
Saturday brings another chance of showers with temperatures near 75 degrees.
No significant rainfall totals or severe thunderstorms are indicated in the supplied local forecast.
