Sacramento, CA – Gusty southwest winds are expected across portions of Northern California on Monday, Oct. 26, with the strongest conditions affecting higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascades, where wind gusts could approach 40 mph.
According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, breezy conditions will continue Monday, with minor wind related impacts possible across the region.
Forecasters are encouraging residents to secure loose outdoor belongings, including fall and Halloween decorations, as stronger gusts could knock down small tree branches.
The latest wind forecast shows varying conditions across Northern California, with the strongest winds concentrated in mountain communities and exposed higher elevation locations.
Near Blue Canyon, forecast winds are approximately 35 to 40 mph, while areas around Truckee could experience winds of 25 to 30 mph.
South Lake Tahoe and surrounding Sierra Nevada communities may also experience breezy conditions, particularly along exposed mountain routes.
Across the Sacramento Valley, winds are expected to remain generally lighter.
Sacramento is forecast to experience winds around 10 to 15 mph, while nearby communities such as Stockton and Modesto could see similar conditions.
Other Northern California locations, including Chico, Redding and Yuba City, are expected to experience varying wind speeds depending on local terrain and elevation.
The National Weather Service categorizes the overall expected wind impacts as minor.
Potential concerns include unsecured outdoor items being blown around and isolated tree branches falling during stronger gusts.
Motorists traveling through mountain passes and exposed roadways should remain attentive to changing wind conditions, especially when operating high profile vehicles.
Residents preparing Halloween displays or outdoor decorations may want to secure lightweight objects before winds increase.
The forecast applies to Monday, Oct. 26, and residents should continue monitoring local conditions for any changes.
