Headlights can disappear into thick gray fog across California's San Joaquin Valley, creating dangerous driving conditions before skies clear. Visibility could fall below 200 feet in isolated locations, even as temperatures prepare to climb toward 76 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday, November 7.
The advisory covers portions of Kings, Fresno and Tulare counties, including Hanford, Visalia, Lemoore, Corcoran and surrounding communities.
Visibility Could Drop Below 200 Feet Meteorologists warn that visibility may fall to one quarter mile or less across affected areas.
Some locations could experience visibility below 200 feet, making nearby vehicles and intersections difficult to see.
Early Saturday, Hanford Municipal Airport reported mist, temperatures near 46 degrees and visibility around 1.75 miles.
However, conditions can vary significantly across the valley.
Drivers using Highway 198, Highway 43 and nearby rural roads should remain alert for sudden visibility reductions.
Use low beam headlights, reduce speed and increase following distance. Avoid high beams, which can reflect off fog and worsen visibility.
Fog Gives Way to a 76 Degree Afternoon Despite the hazardous morning conditions, the weather pattern improves considerably as Saturday progresses.
The National Weather Service expects widespread dense fog to diminish during the morning, followed by sunshine and temperatures near 76 degrees.
That represents a roughly 30 degree rise from the early airport observation.
Saturday evening brings increasing clouds, with temperatures falling toward 49 degrees.
Sunday remains mostly sunny, with highs near 75 degrees and light northwest winds.
Warm November Weather Continues Into Veterans Day Monday and Tuesday maintain the pleasant stretch, with sunshine and afternoon temperatures between 73 and 75 degrees.
Wednesday, Veterans Day, could be another standout afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to reach approximately 77 degrees under sunny skies.
The extended outlook also keeps Thursday near 77 degrees before temperatures ease slightly Friday.
For residents planning yard cleanup, gardening or outdoor gatherings, the upcoming afternoons offer favorable conditions.
However, November remains an important transition period for California weather.
Additional fog episodes remain possible later in the season, although no new advisory is established in the supplied outlook.
No local snow, freezing precipitation or tornado threat appears in the five day forecast.
