Gilroy, California – A 3.4 magnitude earthquake centered just 5 miles east of Gilroy struck at 6:48 a.m. local time Tuesday, sending light vibrations across the region.
According to the United States Geological Survey USGS , the quake occurred at a depth of 7.2 kilometers. While small, residents in parts of Gilroy and neighboring communities reported feeling the tremor, which was brief but noticeable.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries resulting from the seismic activity. Officials continue to monitor for any potential aftershocks, though none have been reported as of mid morning.
