Eureka, CA – Northern California's Humboldt County coast is heading toward a cooler weekend before rain chances return early next week, bringing a change from the mostly dry conditions expected through Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service forecast for Eureka, daytime temperatures will remain in the 50s from Saturday through Tuesday, with patchy coastal fog developing over the weekend and a chance of rain beginning Monday.
The transition follows a stretch of mostly sunny weather late this week, when Eureka is expected to reach 66 degrees Thursday and 61 degrees Friday.
Cooler Weekend Brings Coastal Fog Saturday begins the five day period with partly sunny skies and a high near 59 degrees in Eureka.
Conditions become cloudier Saturday night, when patchy fog could develop after 5 a.m. Sunday. Overnight temperatures are expected to remain near 50 degrees.
Sunday brings another change as patchy fog continues before 8 a.m., followed by mostly cloudy skies and a high near 56 degrees.
The cooler conditions will be most directly noticeable along the Eureka coastline, where the supplied forecast indicates afternoon temperatures several degrees below Thursday's expected high.
Rain Chances Return Early Next Week By Monday, the National Weather Service expects a chance of rain under cloudy skies, with temperatures reaching approximately 54 degrees.
Rain chances continue Monday night, when temperatures could fall to around 46 degrees.
Tuesday offers little indication of a significant warmup. A chance of rain remains in the forecast, although skies could become partly sunny during the day. Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach approximately 55 degrees.
The forecast does not specify rainfall totals or probabilities, leaving uncertainty about how much precipitation Eureka could receive.
While NOAA's national outlook highlights a significant temperature change across portions of the central United States later this week, that development is separate from the more localized coastal weather pattern expected in Humboldt County.
The available Eureka forecast supports a cooler, increasingly cloudy weekend followed by possible rain, but does not establish that identical conditions will extend across all of Northern California.
