Fresno, CA – Central California residents can expect a noticeable cooldown this week as two low pressure systems influence the region, bringing increasingly fall like temperatures to the San Joaquin Valley just ahead of Halloween.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, temperatures will steadily decline through Saturday, Oct. 31, as one low pressure system moves north during the first half of the week and another affects the region later in the week.
The changing weather pattern will reduce the likelihood of afternoon temperatures climbing above 70 degrees across several Central California communities.
In Fresno, the probability of exceeding 70 degrees drops from 100% Monday, Oct. 26, to 70% Tuesday and just 40% Wednesday. By Halloween on Saturday, that probability falls to only 4%.
Hanford follows a similar trend, with a 75% chance of exceeding 70 degrees Tuesday, falling to 25% Wednesday and 4% Saturday.
Farther south, Bakersfield begins the week with a 97% chance of temperatures above 70 degrees Monday. That probability drops to 40% Tuesday, 5% Wednesday and just 3% Saturday.
Visalia also faces a significant shift, with its chance of exceeding 70 degrees decreasing from 100% Monday to 55% Tuesday and only 3% by Saturday.
The cooler conditions extend into other portions of the region, including Merced, Coalinga and Lake Isabella.
In Merced, the probability of temperatures exceeding 70 degrees falls to just 1% Saturday, while Mariposa has virtually no chance of reaching that threshold throughout the forecast period.
The cooling trend could make jackets and warmer clothing more useful for residents attending outdoor activities and Halloween celebrations.
Although temperatures are expected to decline, the National Weather Service graphic does not specify widespread rainfall or severe weather impacts.
Residents should monitor updated local forecasts as the two weather systems move through the region.
