Westfield, IN – A judge has delivered a guilty verdict in the case of Kenneth Guy, who stood trial for dealing a controlled substance resulting in death. The bench trial, which concluded after two days of testimony, addresses a fatal overdose investigation that began early this year. Sentencing for the defendant is currently scheduled for December 1, 2026.
The investigation originated on January 27, 2026, when officers from the Westfield Police Department responded to a report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, evidence at the scene led investigators to suspect a drug related death. The department's Special Investigations Unit subsequently launched a complex inquiry, which successfully identified Guy as the individual responsible for providing the illicit substances that resulted in the victim's death.
The conviction carries significant legal weight, as the charge of Dealing in a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death is classified as a Level 1 felony in Indiana. According to state sentencing guidelines, the offense carries a potential prison term ranging from 20 to 40 years. The trial proceedings officially began on September 15, 2026, and were presided over by a judge who heard evidence compiled by local and federal authorities.
The Westfield Police Department expressed gratitude to their collaborative partners for their roles in securing the conviction. Key participants in the multi agency investigation included the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, the Hammond Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration DEA , and the FBI CAST Team. Officials noted that the successful conclusion of this trial is a reflection of the dedicated teamwork between local and federal law enforcement agencies.
